Taking the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang as a historical point of reference — a site that itself remains in continual becoming, as forms ceaselessly gather and disperse — the exhibition considers how past and present, object and body, cultural heritage and everyday perception are continuously reassembled within conditions of instability and flux.
In Buddhist thought, Xiang (相) refers to form, appearance, or phenomena: all that can be sensed or perceived. Across the exhibition, unstable materials, contingent image-making processes, and reversals of medium unsettle fixed ideas of form, matter, and meaning. The works dwell in the threshold moments before Xiang takes form, attending to states of transition and transformation.
